More fascinator making fun in Edinburgh

We met a very creative bunch of ladies indeed recently in Hemma, Edinburgh for another brilliant fascinator making hen party class as part of the lovely Barbara’s hen weekend in Edinburgh.  We took over the lovely mezzanine in Hemma and spread out our mountains of feathers, beads, fabrics, brooches, flowers etc etc etc for the ladies.  One or two of them had brought along some of their own bits and pieces to add to their piece, one bringing something slightly unusual (from her husband’s workshop) which made a fantastic design…. As always, the ladies came up with some fabulous and unusual designs with a huge variety of styles between them.  With a rainbow of colours and styles we were so impressed with the fascinators that they made.  There class was  accompanied by a delicious spread put on by Hemma, washed down with plenty of fizz.  Yum. Here are some snaps of the lovely ladies at work and a few of their...

Fascinator Making Hen Party in West Lothian

Fascinator Making Hen Party in West Lothian

We recently ran a fabulous fascinator making hen party class in West Lothian, near Edinburgh, for some lovely hens.  The journey to the venue was hilarious with a rather unusual kind of traffic jam on the way when a herd of cows blocked the driveway to the house..! We arrived at the stunning self catering house that the hen party had rented and arrived to find the hens enjoying having their hair and make up done. The girls had decorated the house with bunting and prepared delicious cocktails to enjoy during the class. Hannah was joined by the newest member of the Arabella Bridal team, Rona, and we set the class up in the huge, bright, open plan dining area and living room. When we’d finished teaching them the basic techniques required to make fascinators, the girls got stuck straight into making their fascinators. As always,  we were surprised and impressed at how creative they all were, and how different each of their fascinator were.  Ranging from small, simple pastel coloured designs to large, vibrant statement hats, the hens did a great job of making their unique fascinators. We had a fun photoshoot at the end of the class and got some lovely pictures of them all. As we were leaving, the music was turned up, cocktails poured and the dancing had begun – we were very tempted to stay and join in! Thanks again to all the girls for booking with us and for being such good fun! xx...

Hen Party in Leith – fascinator making in the Granary

We held another of our very popular fascinator making classes recently in the function room of the Granary in Edinburgh’s lovely Leith area.  The hens were tucking into a delicious buffet when we arrived and enjoyed their food and drink while we taught them how to make some lovely fascinators. Some of the hens chose to design their own and got very creative with lots of attention to detail – sewing beads onto the delicate netting that we had brought along and mixing textures for an interesting finish. Others chose to stick to the designs that we had brought along for them to copy and they all worked away for a couple of hours with Hannah helping them with their creations.  As this was one of our mini classes, the hen party had two hours to make their designs and all did really well managing to create some fantastic fascinators in the time they had.   The function room was quite dark so we had to be a bit creative with our photoshoot at the end of the fascinator making class, and all went down to post on the mezzanine for our group shot! Thanks to all the hens for being such good fun!...

Afternoon Tea and Fascinator Making in the Howard Hotel

Cakes, scones, sandwiches, mini creme brûlées and mousses, limitless tea….shall I go on? Hungry yet??! We recently had the pleasure of running a Luxury Fascinator Making class for Rachel’s hen party in the beautiful Howard Hotel in Edinburgh’s New Town – renowned for it’s fabulous Afternoon Tea.  The girls had all come up by train from Northern England to spend Rachel’s hen weekend in Edinburgh and were all on great form! They all got very creative during the class and made very unique, beautiful fascinators which they were all going to wear out into town that evening.  The bride-to-be Rachel made a stunning coral and purple fascinator to go with a beautiful coral dress that she was wearing out to dinner that night. As if being surrounded by good friends and mountains of gorgeous fabrics, sinamays, brooches, sparkles wasn’t enough, the girls also indulged in a delicious Afternoon Tea served by some lovely, friendly “butlers” in the Howard who looked after the girls very well and made sure the tea never ran out! The girls have kindly let us share some of their photos so you can see some of the amazing pieces that they...

A “Roaring 20s” fascinator making hen party workshop in Edinburgh!

What a fab afternoon we had with the ladies on Kim’s hen party in Edinburgh last weekend. The hens had come down to Edinburgh from Aberdeen for the weekend and had the class in a lovely apartment in Leith. They had opted for our Great Gatsby, roaring 20s style fascinator class so there were plenty of headbands, feathers and sparkle available for them to use.  Lots of the girls chose simple alice band style pieces using lovely diamante and crystal details, with many of them hand sewing some lovely bead work onto their designs. Once again, each of them came up with unique designs and by the end of the class we had a beautiful range of hand-made fascinators for them to wear out that night. Here are some photos of the hens creating their fascinators and proudly showing off this finished...
