Afternoon Tea and Fascinator Making in the Howard Hotel

Cakes, scones, sandwiches, mini creme brûlées and mousses, limitless tea….shall I go on? Hungry yet??! We recently had the pleasure of running a Luxury Fascinator Making class for Rachel’s hen party in the beautiful Howard Hotel in Edinburgh’s New Town – renowned for it’s fabulous Afternoon Tea.  The girls had all come up by train from Northern England to spend Rachel’s hen weekend in Edinburgh and were all on great form! They all got very creative during the class and made very unique, beautiful fascinators which they were all going to wear out into town that evening.  The bride-to-be Rachel made a stunning coral and purple fascinator to go with a beautiful coral dress that she was wearing out to dinner that night. As if being surrounded by good friends and mountains of gorgeous fabrics, sinamays, brooches, sparkles wasn’t enough, the girls also indulged in a delicious Afternoon Tea served by some lovely, friendly “butlers” in the Howard who looked after the girls very well and made sure the tea never ran out! The girls have kindly let us share some of their photos so you can see some of the amazing pieces that they...

Mad Hatters Hen Party Fascinator making class!

Now THIS will put a smile on your face!  As you may or may not know, we occasionally run “themed” fascinator making classes if the hen party in question has a particular theme to it.  We were contacted by Lynnette who asked if we could run a “Mad Hatter Tea Party” style fascinator making class for Pip’s hen party in Glasgow, a chance which we of course jumped at! We had so much fun designing some fabulous Mad Hatter style fascinator for the ladies to make and added in some great Alice in Wonderland style props for the day (here’s a sneak preview of some of the designs – amazing, no..?! 😉 )   The hen party class was run in their flat in Glasgow and Arabella Bridal’s lovely Danielle went along armed with our Mad Hatter props and designs as well as mountains of materials for the ladies to choose from.  They all had lots of  fun and made some brilliant Mad Hatter style fascinators which all looked great! They really got into the swing of it and got really creative with some oversized Alice in Wonderland style bows, some mini top hats and plenty of crazy buttons and sparkle! Johnny Depp would be proud…. 😉 Here are a few shots of the lovely ladies having fun and proudly displaying their...

Fascinator Making Hen Party Workshop on the banks of Loch Tay

We had a FABULOUS afternoon on the banks of Loch Tay, half way between Killin and Aberfeldy last weekend, running a fascinator making class as part o Steph’s hen party.  The ladies had rented a stunning house for the weekend, with views across the loch, and the sun was shining for the whole day. We ran the class in the beautiful conservatory overlooking the gardens and loch. The ladies had been busy baking a mountain of scrumptious cakes beforehand and so the adjoining kitchen was full of the delicious treats to fuel the class (I can now confirm that it’s very hard to concentrate on teaching a class when there are such yummy chocolatey smells drifting past your nose…!!) The girls (despite their claims of not being creative) made some beautiful pieces with an array of styles and colours.  There was a lot of giggles and laughter during the class as they beavered away, and everyone managed to complete their pieces in the nick of time, before they headed off for their next activity of Highland Games (which was apparently going to include “Tossing the Haggis” – we want to see the photos from THAT!) Here are some photos of the lovely ladies and their creations.  We can’t wait to go back so if anyone else fancies a Perthshire hen party – do let us know! xxxx...

Fascinator Making with a vintage twist!

Danielle had lots of fun at the gorgeous Butterfly and Pig tearooms again recently running another lovely Fascinator Making Workshop for a hen party.  The setting was perfect for a quirky vintage class and we added a touch of vintage bunting to finish it off. The girls all made gorgeous fascinators with a vintage twist – choosing to include lots of lovely birdcage veils in their designs.  Every fascinator was different and unique, and the girls were all delighted with the outcomes. The girls very kindly wrote to us afterwards to say: “Hi Hannah,  I just wanted to write and say thank you and Danielle for the fascinator workshop, it was excellent! Everyone really enjoyed it and commented on how personable and helpful Danielle was.” So lovely of them – we love our job! Here are some pics of the afternoon, before the girls tucked into their delicious afternoon tea – the cakes at the Butterfly and Pig really are to die...

Louise’s Hen Party Fascinator Making Workshop

A couple of weeks ago we ran another wonderful fascinator making workshop in Hemma in the centre of Edinburgh for the lovely Louise’s hen party.  Louise arrived looking stunning having been made up by the very talented Miss Dixiebelle.  As is so often the case, several of the girls looked terrified as Arabella Bridal’s Hannah explained what they were going to be making – many of them saying that they couldn’t sew and weren’t creative – but as usual, despite that, everyone produced amazing pieces and surprised themselves at what they had achieved! It was a great afternoon and both Hannah and Marie-Anne had a fabulous time with the ladies and were sad when it was all over! Thanks to Louise for allowing us to share some photos of her afternoon and the hens in...
